Stainless pumps – corrosion-resistant solution for demanding environments

A stainless steel pump is a pump where the pump casing and fluid-carrying parts are made of stainless steel – typically AISI 304 or AISI 316. This makes it particularly suitable for liquids with low pH, high salt content or chemical exposure.

Stainless steel pumps are used where corrosion and material degradation can be a problem or where high hygiene is required, such as in the food industry, process plants or wastewater treatment.

Technical function

Stainless steel pumps work just like any other pump – the difference lies in the choice of material:

  • Stainless steel protects against corrosion and chemical degradation

  • Withstands higher temperatures and aggressive liquids

  • Available as submersible pump, motor pump, electric pump or self-priming solution

  • Available with both open and closed impellers, depending on particle content and flow requirements

Many stainless steel pumps can be connected SRO systems for intelligent operation and monitoring.

Advantages of stainless steel pumps

  • Corrosion resistant – long service life even in harsh conditions

  • Suitable for aggressive and chemical liquids

  • Easy to clean and maintain

  • Reliable solution for both permanent and temporary installations

  • Available in compact or high-capacity versions

Typical applications

  • High-load wastewater treatment

  • Process water and chemicals in industry

  • Food production and pharmaceutical plants

  • Pumping seawater, salt water or acidic liquid

  • Drainage and pumping stations with long-term moisture impact

Materials etc.

Stainless steel pumps are available in multiple configurations and steel grades:

  • Materials:

    • AISI 304: Good for most light corrosion applications

    • AISI 316: Acid resistant – suitable for highly aggressive environments

  • Pump shaper:

    • Submersible pumps in stainless steel

    • Electric centrifugal pumps

    • Self-priming pumps with stainless steel casing

    • Stainless steel gear pumps for viscous fluids

  • Optional extras:

    • Ex protection (ATEX)

    • Seals for chemical impact

    • Frequency control and level control
