Pressure and suction transmissions

Pressure transmission – safe and efficient transportation of liquids in bypass pumping and operation

Pressure transmission is the transportation of fluids through a pressure line – a hose or pipe that carries the fluid from the pump outlet (pressure side) to the desired outlet, such as a well, pipe or tank.

It may sound simple, but proper pressure transmission requires an understanding of flow, pressure loss, connections and safety. Incorrect sizing can lead to inefficient operation, leaks or unintended load on the pump.

Technical function

A pressure line typically operates under positive pressure from the pump outlet. Depending on the flow and piping, this must be taken into account:

  • Pressure loss in long or narrow lines

  • Back pressure in the system, e.g. at high lifting heights

  • Safety – e.g. securing and relieving heavy hoses

  • Coupling types to ensure tight joints during operation

RH Pumper always dimensions the pressure transmission based on flow, distance and fluid type – so you get a reliable and optimal solution.

Benefits of pressure transmission

  • Stable and controlled fluid transport

  • Extends pump life by minimizing stress

  • Less risk of leaks and breakdowns

  • Easily connect and adapt to existing systems

  • Can be set up quickly – even temporarily

Typical applications

  • Bypass pumping during sewer renovation

  • Emptying wells and tanks

  • Drainage and groundwater management

  • Industrial wastewater transport

  • Temporary or mobile pump installations

Materials

Pressure transmission can be done with different materials depending on the application:

  • Hoses:

    • Rubber hoses for high pressure

    • PVC pressure lines for easy transportation and quick installation

    • PE welded pipes for long and durable installations

  • Couplings and fittings:

    • Bauer, Storz or Camlock couplings

    • Screw joints and flanges for fixed installations

    • Option for blind caps and check valves

  • Special considerations:

    • Relief for long stretches

    • Anchoring and safety on construction sites

    • Soundproofing or heat insulation for special requirements
