Pressure and suction transmissions

Portals – safe and flexible routing of hoses during bypass pumping

Portals – also called hose arches or pipe bridges – are temporary structures used to lift hoses and pipes up in height to pass over physical obstacles such as roads, driveways, walkways and construction site entrances.

They are mainly used for bypass pumping in densely populated areas where you want to avoid burying hoses or dragging them across traffic areas, which can be both dangerous and inconvenient.

Technical function

The portal typically consists of:

  • A steel or aluminum frame – often in modules that are easily assembled on site

  • Crossbeams and outriggers for stability

  • Feed-through for one or more pressure or suction hoses

  • Some gantries can be adjusted in height and width – for example, to accommodate truck traffic or different terrain conditions

Gantries are quickly installed and can be adapted to individual conditions. They protect hoses from mechanical wear and ensure free passage during installation.

Benefits and advantages

  • Ensures free access for traffic and pedestrians

  • Prevents damage to hoses and pipes

  • Easy and quick installation without digging

  • Flexible solution adapted to terrain and hose routing

  • Can be reused in multiple projects – environmentally friendly solution

Typical applications

  • Bypass pumping in residential areas or city centers

  • Sewer renovation with traffic maintenance

  • Industrial facilities where access roads must not be blocked

  • Construction sites with machine or truck traffic

  • Events or places with high passenger traffic

Editions

Portals come in different versions depending on the task and environment:

  • Materials: Galvanized steel, aluminum or powder-coated steel

  • Standard height: Typically from 2.2 m to 4.5 m – higher for custom solutions

  • Hose entries: One or more, with clamps or rollers for minimal friction

  • Features: Adjustable height, fixed or mobile construction, option for wheels during set-up
