Electric pump – climate-friendly and quiet pump for efficient operation

An electric pump is a pump powered by an electric motor – and the preferred solution in areas with power supply. It comes in many variants and sizes, depending on whether it is used for clean water, wastewater, bypass pumping or drainage.

Electric pumps are often used for stationary installations or as part of a mobile pumping solution. They are characterized by low noise levels, zero emissions and the possibility of continuous operation without fuel supply.

Technical function

The pump’s electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical movement that drives the pump’s impeller. This creates a pressure that sucks in the liquid and moves it through the pump system.

Depending on the type, an electric pump can be self-priming or submersible. Many models are also available with automatic level control that starts and stops the pump as needed.

Advantages of electric pumps

  • Climate-friendly and emission-free operation

  • Quiet, making it ideal for urban and indoor use

  • Reliable and energy efficient

  • Low maintenance requirements compared to internal combustion engines

  • Connects to controllers and alarms for intelligent monitoring

Typical applications

  • Bypass pumping in urban areas and wastewater work

  • Drainage of construction sites and basements with access to electricity

  • Pumping stations in the supply network

  • Industrial process water and tank emptying

  • Temporary installations for scheduled maintenance

Materials and variants

Electric pumps come in many designs and materials:

  • Materials: Plastic, stainless steel, cast iron – depending on the nature of the medium

  • Variants:

    • Submersible pumps for direct submersion

    • Self-priming models for quick start-up

    • Grinder pumps for dirty water and sludge

    • Fixed and mobile versions

    • ATEX-approved models for hazardous areas
