Bypass pumping project at Mølleåværkets wastewater treatment plant

RH Pumper was entrusted with the task of ensuring stable and climate-friendly bypass pumping at the Mølleåværket treatment plant. With high operational reliability and the use of electric pumps, the project has contributed to an energy-efficient solution.

The Mill Creek treatment plant faced a need to temporarily over-pump large volumes of wastewater while maintenance work was carried out on the existing facilities. RH Pumper was contacted to design and deliver a robust solution to ensure that wastewater transportation could continue without interruption. The job included multiple bypass pumping, with flow rates ranging from 25 l/s to 190 l/s, as well as the installation of an advanced monitoring system that ensured 24/7 operation.

For this project, RH Pumper used PX4-200-30 kW and PX3-150-15 kW electric pump units, which were chosen for their ability to handle large volumes of water with low energy consumption. The pumps were equipped with frequency converters to optimize operation and reduce energy waste.

Scope of the solution

  • Bypass pumping 1 + 2: 2 electric pump units with a total design flow of 210 l/s from FB1 to the aeration tanks. Suction height approx. 4 meters and the transmission length was up to 120 meters.
  • Bypass pumping 3: An electric pump unit with a maximum flow of 190 l/s. The pressure transmission extended over 200 meters.
  • Bypass pumping 4: Design flow of 25 l/s with a transmission length of 50 meters, connected to the existing infrastructure from Bypass pumping 1.
  • Bypass pumping 5: 2 electric pump units handled a total flow of 100 l/s over a distance of 130 meters.

All units were monitored via RH Pumper’s 24/7 SRO system, ensuring that any malfunctions could be corrected immediately, both locally and remotely.
